Dr. Dale Bredesen, The End of Alzheimer’s

037 Dr. Dale Bredesen, The End of Alzheimer’s

Welcome Huddle Haven Team!  This week we have a true “difference maker” joining us.  Dr. Dale Bredesen is an internationally recognized expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases.  His career has been guided by a simple idea:  that Alzheimer’s as we know it is not just preventable, but reversible.

Dr. Bredesen earned his MD from Duke University Medical Center and served as Chief Resident in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), before joining Nobel laureate Stanley Prusiner’s laboratory at UCSF as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow. He held faculty positions at UCSF, UCLA, and the University of California, San Diego.  Dr. Bredesen also directed the Program on Aging at the Burnham Institute before joining the Buck Institute in 1998 as founding President and CEO.

Dr. Bredesen’s research explores previously uncharted territory in explaining the physical mechanism behind the erosion of memory seen in Alzheimer’s disease, and has opened the door to new approaches to treatment. This work has led to the identification of several new therapeutic processes that are showing remarkable early results.  Our generation could be the last to ever have to deal with this horrible disease.  We hope you learn as much as we did from Dr. Dale Bredesen.

Dr. Jason Garrett, Fix Your Pain Fast at Airrosti

036  Dr. Jason Garrett, Fix Your Pain Fast at Airrosti

Hello Huddle Haven Team!  If you’re like us you are sick and tired of the broken “sickcare” system in the US.  A system that pushes more and more big pharma, a system that seeks to drive the most expensive treatments possible, and a system that would rather put you at risk with unnecessary surgeries…opposed to prescribing one on one care that promotes holistic healing.

This week we welcome Dr. Jason Garrett, Chief Medical Officer for Airrosti.   Airrosti providers are singularly focused on getting results for patients, while providing the highest level of quality care. Whether you’ve been living with chronic and nagging pain for years or if you’ve recently experienced an acute injury, their providers help find the root cause of your pain to provide efficient, effective, and lasting relief in the vast majority of cases.

Airrosti’s quality-care approach means they spend significant one-on-one time with every patient to thoroughly diagnose and help resolve the source of your pain through safe and effective soft tissue treatment.  Airrosti then educates you and gives you guidance you can use at home to speed your recovery and minimize the risk of future injuries.

Airrosti’s goal?   Fix pain FAST (typically within 3 visits based on patient-reported outcomes) — with no needles, surgery, or invasive procedures.  For years Airrosti has helped save patients time and money, while also helping eliminate or dramatically reducing the need for costly and potentially dangerous prescription pain killers and opioids.

Dr. Jason Garrett graduated Summa Cum Laude as Valedictorian of Texas Chiropractic College after completing his Biology degree with Honors from Coastal Carolina University.

As Chief Medical Officer,  Garrett trains new providers, evaluates current field providers, aids in business development and marketing and trains physicians in all areas (Sports Medicine, Surgeons, Family Medicine, etc.).

Quote from Jason, “I am proud to be working at a company whose mission is to do everything in our power to improve the quality of life of our patients. Everyone at Airrosti is committed to a common goal of doing what is right for the patient.”

Refreshing to hear from a doctor and provider that actually puts you the patient first—please welcome, Jason Garrett.

033 Justin Singer: Mekanix Gym / XPT Master Coach

Welcome Huddle Haven Team!  We’re excited to introduce you to this week’s guest, Justin Singer.  Justin is Founder of MEKANIX gym and is an Extreme Performance Training, “XPT” Master Coach.

Justin spent many years exploring various paths in his quest to find an interesting, efficient, and effective fitness regimen.  He tried Olympic lifting, long-distance running, various sports including rugby, rock-climbing, and extreme CrossFit.  He wanted to identify training that would keep him strong and healthy; and also allow him to exercise in a way that would promote longevity.

Justin’s journey led him to body weight / functional exercise, in particular, calisthenics.  Calisthenics allowed him to get stronger than he ever was before, it’s safe, it’s made his body more mobile, it’s fun, and it has captivated his imagination for exploring all of our body’s capabilities.

With limited instruction and gym options, Justin launched into the world of entrepreneurship, deciding to create a place that would not only fulfill his needs but also serve as a hub for the Houston community…MEKANIX was born.

The MEKANIX team creates a well-rounded fitness experience through premiere coaching, programming, and a tight-knit community.  MEKANIX is Texas’s only gym focused on calisthenics, a time-tested form of body weight training that provides superior strength, mobility and flexibility training.  Calisthenics provides a powerful pathway to exploring your body’s physical (and mental) capabilities for a lifetime of physical fitness.

Please welcome MEKANIX Founder, and XPT-Master-Coach, Justin Singer.

If you’re one of the 200+ million subscribers to Netflix, and you have not seen one of the best documentaries they’ve ever produced; you must block out time for Kiss The Ground.

Narrated by Woody Harrelson, Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that outlines the first viable solution to our climate crisis.  The documentary reveals that, by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies.

One of the shining stars of the show is our guest this week.  Ray Archuleta is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist with the Soil Science Society of America and has over 30 years experience as a Soil Conservationist, Water Quality Specialist, and Conservation Agronomist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  During his tenure with NRCS, he spent time educating farmers & ranchers all over our great United States.

In 2017, Ray founded Understanding Ag, and The Soil Health Academy to teach land regeneration principles for improving soil function on a national scale.

All things #12, in honor of #7! Exploring the greatness of Tom Brady

029 All things #12, in honor of #7!

Wow!  Let’s Go…or Let’s F***ing Go as the GOAT would say!
Tom Edward Patrick Brady did it again.  Congrats Tom on a 7th Super Bowl win!Did you know Tom Brady by himself has more Super Bowl wins than the Patriots, Steelers, 49’ers and Cowboys organizations.
So what makes Brady the GOAT = Greatest of All Time?
First, in HS, in San Mateo CA, he couldn’t even start for his JV Team that was 0-8…he got his chance after the starter was injured, and ended up as QB1 as a JR & SR…when he got his opportunity he made the most of it.
Next, he chose to play at Michigan, where he spent most of his college career as #3 or 4 on the depth chart, when he got his opportunity he made the most of it.
Then in the 2000 draft, 198 times teams passed on Brady…he was a sixth round pick, the 199th pick; and was projected to be a career back-up.  But in his second season, when the starter went down, he got his opportunity and made the most of it.
In 2006 when he was set up on a blind date with a super-model; needless to say, he got his opportunity and made the most of it.
In 2020, after 20 seasons of being nothing but a winner, the Patriots did not work very hard to support & appreciate Tom, claiming their “system” is what wins.  And in the craziness of 2020, Brady takes a leap of faith…some said a leap off a cliff?  He goes to a losing franchise, an undisciplined franchise, and immediately transforms the culture; resulting in yet another SB victory.  He got his opportunity and made the most of it.
Today’s episode is all things #12, in honor of Super Bowl victory #7.  This guy is 43 (looks 23), has 10 Super Bowl appearances, 7 Super Bowl wins…obviously, he’s doing something right.  We’ll toss around some of his company’s insight and advice; TB12 is a Health & Wellness company dedicated to helping people achieve a lifetime of sustained-peak-performance; and in celebrating the GOAT, we’ll have some fun with the #12.
