Jordan Jonas, winner of the History Channel’s, “Alone Season 6”

How long do you think you could make it out in the wilderness?  Listeners…be honest, how long could you make it out in the middle of nowhere…with only some primitive tools at your disposal?  Well we’ve got a very special guest joining us this week…Jordan Jonas made it 77 days & nights in the Canadian Arctic—he won Season 6 of the History Channels top-rated show” Alone”…hunting moose, rabbits, squirrels…ice fishing….and fighting off wolverines and the bitter cold…you need to check out Jordan’s badassness on Netflix—Alone-Season 6. Beyond his recent celebrity, Jordan is such an impressive and interesting guy; he grew up in Idaho.  He spent his formative years in some beautiful country where he fell in love with nature. At 19 years old, he spent a year riding freight trains across the US—literally a self-described Hobo–spending countless days and nights navigating both rural and urban environments.  After his cross-country journey, he left for Russia where he would spend the better part of the next ten years living in Siberia in villages, with fur trappers, and traditional nomadic reindeer herders. This is where Jordan would learn the art of survival – not as taught in classes, but as lived day in and day out by people whose existence depends on those skills.  And now…he’s dedicated his life to teaching others how to survive in the wild—hosting all kinds of “survival camps” throughout the year. Talk about someone who exemplifies Bucket List Livin’…we can’t wait for y’all to meet Jordan Jonas.

Pasta Fagioli Soup
1 T. olive oil
1 pound grass fed ground beef
2 cans red beans, drained
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped carrots
6-8 oz gluten free pasta shells
48 oz. beef broth (I make mine with water and beef bouillon)
parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
2 bay leaves
8 oz. tomato sauce
1. Sauté onion, celery, and carrots in olive oil for 3 to 5 minutes.
2. Add ground beef, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook until meat is cooked.
3. In a blender, add 24 oz. of the beef broth and 1 can of the red beans and blend into a puree.
4. Add the puree, the tomato sauce, the remaining 24 oz. of beef broth, and one can of red beans to the meat mixture. Add the bay leaves. Let cook for 5 minutes.
5. In a seperate pot, boil the pasta for 5 to 6 minutes until the pasta is al dente. Don’t overcook because the pasta will get too soggy in the soup. Drain the noodles.
6. Add the pasta to the soup and top with parmesan cheese.

Taylor Collins, co-founder of Epic Provisions & Roam Ranch discusses the 3P’s (Physical, Personal, and Professional Wellbeing)

020 Hey Huddle Haven Team, we’re thrilled to be featuring Taylor Collins & Katie Forrest this week.  A powerhouse husband / wife team that co-founded EPIC Provisions and Roam Ranch.  They could be featured as Mentor Models, a couple livin’ their dream–their day to day is all about Bucket List Livin’; and they most certainly exemplify individuals that are optimizing their 3P’s–Physical, Personal and Professional wellbeing.

We were stoked that Taylor was able to sit down with us at his beautiful home on the range—ROAM RANCH.  What a resume this couple has:  They met in HS, went to college together, both became elite endurance athletes, and both proved to be super savvy entrepreneurs.  They started a commercial recycling company while in college; then launched a “vegan” snack company making energy bars; but after their health began to deteriorate as vegans…they hit the reset button, not only to improve their health but also used their experience to reset their company.  This is when EPIC Provisions was born—offering unique and nutritional meat / protein snacks.  EPIC was so successful, in 2016 General Mills made them an offer they could not refuse.

Katie and Taylor started ROAM RANCH in 2017—located in the heart of the majestic Texas Hill Country, ROAM RANCH sits on hundreds of acres in Fredericksburg, TX.  The cool thing about ROAM RANCH is the couple’s commitment to land regeneration.  All their animals have the ability to roam freely, sharing pastures, ensuring all play a specific role that supports the health of the land.  They raise bison, cattle, goats, hogs, chicken, turkey, and ducks—all are free range, pastured-raised, 100% grass fed, and free of added hormones and antibiotics. Most importantly, their animals are managed in a way that creates a net-positive return on the planet.

Enjoy the conversation with Taylor, he explains how he and Katie are changing the world one meal and one ranch at a time.
