Dr. Dale Bredesen, The End of Alzheimer’s

037 Dr. Dale Bredesen, The End of Alzheimer’s

Welcome Huddle Haven Team!  This week we have a true “difference maker” joining us.  Dr. Dale Bredesen is an internationally recognized expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases.  His career has been guided by a simple idea:  that Alzheimer’s as we know it is not just preventable, but reversible.

Dr. Bredesen earned his MD from Duke University Medical Center and served as Chief Resident in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), before joining Nobel laureate Stanley Prusiner’s laboratory at UCSF as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow. He held faculty positions at UCSF, UCLA, and the University of California, San Diego.  Dr. Bredesen also directed the Program on Aging at the Burnham Institute before joining the Buck Institute in 1998 as founding President and CEO.

Dr. Bredesen’s research explores previously uncharted territory in explaining the physical mechanism behind the erosion of memory seen in Alzheimer’s disease, and has opened the door to new approaches to treatment. This work has led to the identification of several new therapeutic processes that are showing remarkable early results.  Our generation could be the last to ever have to deal with this horrible disease.  We hope you learn as much as we did from Dr. Dale Bredesen.

Dr. Jason Garrett, Fix Your Pain Fast at Airrosti

036  Dr. Jason Garrett, Fix Your Pain Fast at Airrosti

Hello Huddle Haven Team!  If you’re like us you are sick and tired of the broken “sickcare” system in the US.  A system that pushes more and more big pharma, a system that seeks to drive the most expensive treatments possible, and a system that would rather put you at risk with unnecessary surgeries…opposed to prescribing one on one care that promotes holistic healing.

This week we welcome Dr. Jason Garrett, Chief Medical Officer for Airrosti.   Airrosti providers are singularly focused on getting results for patients, while providing the highest level of quality care. Whether you’ve been living with chronic and nagging pain for years or if you’ve recently experienced an acute injury, their providers help find the root cause of your pain to provide efficient, effective, and lasting relief in the vast majority of cases.

Airrosti’s quality-care approach means they spend significant one-on-one time with every patient to thoroughly diagnose and help resolve the source of your pain through safe and effective soft tissue treatment.  Airrosti then educates you and gives you guidance you can use at home to speed your recovery and minimize the risk of future injuries.

Airrosti’s goal?   Fix pain FAST (typically within 3 visits based on patient-reported outcomes) — with no needles, surgery, or invasive procedures.  For years Airrosti has helped save patients time and money, while also helping eliminate or dramatically reducing the need for costly and potentially dangerous prescription pain killers and opioids.

Dr. Jason Garrett graduated Summa Cum Laude as Valedictorian of Texas Chiropractic College after completing his Biology degree with Honors from Coastal Carolina University.

As Chief Medical Officer,  Garrett trains new providers, evaluates current field providers, aids in business development and marketing and trains physicians in all areas (Sports Medicine, Surgeons, Family Medicine, etc.).

Quote from Jason, “I am proud to be working at a company whose mission is to do everything in our power to improve the quality of life of our patients. Everyone at Airrosti is committed to a common goal of doing what is right for the patient.”

Refreshing to hear from a doctor and provider that actually puts you the patient first—please welcome, Jason Garrett.

032 Ray Archuleta from the Netflix Documentary “Kiss the Ground”

If you’re one of the 200+ million subscribers to Netflix, and you have not seen one of the best documentaries they’ve ever produced; you must block out time for Kiss The Ground.

Narrated by Woody Harrelson, Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that outlines the first viable solution to our climate crisis.  The documentary reveals that, by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies.

One of the shining stars of the show is our guest this week.  Ray Archuleta is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist with the Soil Science Society of America and has over 30 years experience as a Soil Conservationist, Water Quality Specialist, and Conservation Agronomist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  During his tenure with NRCS, he spent time educating farmers & ranchers all over our great United States.

In 2017, Ray founded Understanding Ag, and The Soil Health Academy to teach land regeneration principles for improving soil function on a national scale.

We feel lucky to have tapped into the incredible experience…expertise…and most of all the passion Ray brings to the table on this topic.  We hope you enjoy our conversation with Ray Archuleta.

Taylor Collins, co-founder of Epic Provisions & Roam Ranch discusses the 3P’s (Physical, Personal, and Professional Wellbeing)

020 Hey Huddle Haven Team, we’re thrilled to be featuring Taylor Collins & Katie Forrest this week.  A powerhouse husband / wife team that co-founded EPIC Provisions and Roam Ranch.  They could be featured as Mentor Models, a couple livin’ their dream–their day to day is all about Bucket List Livin’; and they most certainly exemplify individuals that are optimizing their 3P’s–Physical, Personal and Professional wellbeing.

We were stoked that Taylor was able to sit down with us at his beautiful home on the range—ROAM RANCH.  What a resume this couple has:  They met in HS, went to college together, both became elite endurance athletes, and both proved to be super savvy entrepreneurs.  They started a commercial recycling company while in college; then launched a “vegan” snack company making energy bars; but after their health began to deteriorate as vegans…they hit the reset button, not only to improve their health but also used their experience to reset their company.  This is when EPIC Provisions was born—offering unique and nutritional meat / protein snacks.  EPIC was so successful, in 2016 General Mills made them an offer they could not refuse.

Katie and Taylor started ROAM RANCH in 2017—located in the heart of the majestic Texas Hill Country, ROAM RANCH sits on hundreds of acres in Fredericksburg, TX.  The cool thing about ROAM RANCH is the couple’s commitment to land regeneration.  All their animals have the ability to roam freely, sharing pastures, ensuring all play a specific role that supports the health of the land.  They raise bison, cattle, goats, hogs, chicken, turkey, and ducks—all are free range, pastured-raised, 100% grass fed, and free of added hormones and antibiotics. Most importantly, their animals are managed in a way that creates a net-positive return on the planet.

Enjoy the conversation with Taylor, he explains how he and Katie are changing the world one meal and one ranch at a time.

Huddle Haven Pays Tribute To Those Who Wear Blue

017 Huddle Haven Pays Tribute To Those Who Wear Blue

In this MENTOR MODEL episode, we pay tribute to a true leader & influencer who changes the world each day.  We feature a good friend, and great example of someone who’s dedicated his professional life to service–he’s literally saving lives on a daily basis.

For many years now he’s worked as Police Officer in some of the toughest Metro areas in the state of Texas.  He’s the kind of guy who left a cushy corporate job because he felt a calling.  He calls his rationale “corny” but I call it heroic.  He had a passion to protect people, and to give communities a sense of safety.  He’s also the kind of guy that has put a strong stiff-arm to various promotional opportunities, completely content in his role as a Patrol Sargent because it gives him the opportunity to coach many young officers.

We hope all those listening to this episode will take this in with an open ears, open eyes, open minds, and open hearts.  It has become way to convenient to take sides lately; far too easy to either “Hate the Blue” or “Back the Blue”…instead of seeking to understand how in this pressure-packed, stressful social & political climate we can all find our way towards grace & unity.  We all can do our own little part to better comprehend exactly what our law enforcement professionals go through day-in & day-out.  When we give each other some space for context & nuance, we can actually have meaningful conversations.

Rhonda & I do our best to not reveal the full identity of this person (no last names); as he’s spent many years of his career working undercover, and may be called on to do so again.  Additionally, he and his team currently work in some pretty tough areas across town, so we try to respect anonymity.  All y’all need to worry about is you’re gonna hear from a real-life, everyday HERO.

Dr. Ken Berry, author of “Lies My Doctor Told Me”

016 Dr. Ken Berry, author of “Lies My Doctor Told Me”

Hello Huddle Haven Team!  We can’t wait for you to hear our guest this week.  Dr. Ken Berry is unlike any doctor you’ve seen, heard or visited.  You want to know why?  Because he actually listens to his patients, actually answers patients questions, gives patients the TLC (tender-loving-care), and sometimes the tough love they need to get their asses off the couch and get healthy!

We highly recommend his book, Lies My Doctor Told Me…where he’ll hit you between the eyes with medical myths that can harm your health.

Ken is a self described “former fatty” he was, “miserable, ignorant to what was actually going on with his own health.”  That was until he slowly discovered the power of removing the slow-poisons of our standard US diet, and replacing them with the nourishment of what he terms the “proper human diet.”

Dr. Berry is a Board Certified Family Physician and Fellow in The American Academy of Family Physicians. What we love about Dr. Berry is he’s not trying to deceive patients into dumping more big-pharma poison into their bodies, as he doesn’t believe a magic pill is going get you healthy.  He shoots you straight, giving solid advice that can keep you healthy and happy.

On this episode he’s going to tell us how we can use our diet to change our lifestyle in order to achieve the long-term health we all desire.  We talk low-carb/ketogenic/carnivore diets, intermittent fasting, reversing auto-immune disorders, diabetes, heart disease and much more.  Advice to all listening:  Let’s charge forward with Dr. Berry in declaring an all-out war against these epidemics plaguing our society; and let’s join him on the path to optimizing our 3P’s = Physical, Personal & Professional Wellbeing!
